The Corbett Rucks Roll-Out-Expansion System allows it to expand in size from a 25L daypack to a 42L oversized ruck. More than allowing you to size the Corbet Ruck to a specific task I created this system to allow the ruck to cover multiple rolls across a trip. Outlined below are a few examples to illustrate: Ukraine to front line embeds: While this might be the most extreme example, it is the clearest, & the driving force behind the Corbet Ruck. Getting into/out of Ukraine means packing out all mission essentials on my person. 3x cameras, lenses, batteries, as well as all my PPE (Helmet, 4x bullet proof plates). All of these are both essential to my work, delicate, & in the short term irreplacable. In the fully expanded configartion the Corbet Ruck fits all of these, pluse a change of clothes, water, cables, batteries plus a few snacks. While it’s far from the most comfortable format, it is portable stable & secure. Once in-country embedded assignments are normally 2-4 days in length. Here the most compact lightweight loadout is preferred & I carry my Corbet Ruck in its smallest 25L format. Most of my essentials are on body then & my Ruck serves as a place for sustainment items (water, food, batteries) & mission specific tools (like & entrenching tool, gas mask, & lighting). This is the highest use case, speed, efficiency, & having both hands free aren’t just a matter of preference, but a factor in survivability. The 10 day trip: A more applicable example to most of you is this: packing for a 10 day trip with a beach excursion or two included. The Corbet ruck can be expanded to 2/3rds of its capacity to fit everything you would need for the entire trip. Once you are settled into a hotel your ruck can be loaded up with everything needed for a hike-in-beach excursion….with plenty of space still for some choice local beer, (why not make some new friends?)   It’s this ability to change roles & sizes on a trip, assignment, or even in a single day that is the Corbet Rucks stand out strength.
